We are a family of 4 starting our adventure to own a sailboat and set off around the south pacific islands. We've purchased a boat and now the preparation begins. The plan is to set off May 2013 but as we all know plans can change. The plan has not changed, just the timing. We've now decided on May 2014 due to $, skills required and swimming lessons for the kids.
We will be sailing up to Brisbane over the Easter weekend and will be based out of Manly or Scarborough at this point in time. Our planned departure date is the 1st May heading for Vanuatu and then on to Fiji for a mid June check in. The kids will fly in to Fiji and join us. We have thought this through and feel that it would be a better experience for the kids to start in Fiji for 4 months prior to sailing on to another destination.
